The State Symbols consists of State Animal, State Bird, State Flower, State Tree, State Drink, State Aquatic Animal and State Song. Following are the State Symbols of Assam.
1. State Animal: Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros
- Was adopted as state animal by the Assam government on 4th April 2003
- Scientific name - Rhinoceros Unicornis
- Fifth largest land animal
- Primarily found in Assam and West Bengal
- Inhabits in riverine grasslands of Terai (Nepal) and Brahmaputra Basin
- Feed mostly on grasses, occasionally leaves, fruits and aquatic plants
- Current population - around 3,500
2. State Bird: Deu Haah (White-winged Wood Duck)
- Was adopted as state bird by the Assam government on 4th April 2003
- Scientific name - Asarconis Scutulata
- One of the largest species of duck
- Due to its ghostly calls which is a series of harsh honks and whistle, it is called Deu Haah or spirit duck in Assamese
- Active mainly at dusk and dawn
- Makes nest in tree holes and female lays up to 16 eggs
- Feeds on seeds, vegetation, fish and other elements
- Current population - 800 (estimated)
3. State Flower: Kopou Phul (Foxtail Orchid)
- Was adopted as state flower by the Assam government on 4th April 2003
- Scientific name - Rhynchotylis Retusa
- Found in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and India
- State flower of both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam

4. State Tree: Hollong
- Was adopted as state tree by the Assam government on 4th April 2003
- Scientific name - Dipterocarpus Macrocarpus
- Common perennial evergreen tree found in South-East Asia including India
- It is the tallest tree of Assam
- Can reach a maximum height of 610 m from the sea level
5. State Drink - Tea
- Was adopted as a state drink on November 23, 2011, by then Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi
- Of all the states in India, Assam produces the largest quantity of tea and has the largest area of the crop
6. State Aquatic Animal - Sihu (Ganges River Dolphin)
- Was adopted as state aquatic animal by the Assam government on 5th April 2008
- Scientific name - Platanista Gangetica
- Found in the freshwater rivers of Nepal, India and Bangladesh
- In India, it is distributed in seven states namely, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
- This animal is referred to as Sihu in Assamese because of the sound it produces while breathing.
- Feeds on fish and invertebrates, such as prawns, catfish, freshwater sharks, gobies and carp.
- Current population in Assam - 962

7. State Song - O mur aponar desh
- Written by Lakshminath Bezbaruah and attuned by Kamala Prasad Agarwala.
- First published in an Assamese magazine named 'Bahi' in 1910 and later in Lakshminath Bezbaruah's 'Kadamkoli'
- Officially adopted as Assam's state song at 'Asom Chatro Sanmilon' held in Tezpur in 1927.
- Assam government accorded the status of official State Song to this song on 15 December, 2013
